“This piece is a comment on the stigmatization of menstruation in light of the hyper-sexualization of the female nude. This painting has been one of my most polarizing works, but it has started a lot of overdue conversations about how we view menstruation as a society and how that differs from our view of the female nude. It was painted using a palette knife, and the blood was applied using a tampon. This piece is currently on display in Marian’s Juried Art Show in the Evan’s Center Gallery, along with several of my other pieces.” -Leah Noe, Class of 2020
