“As an artist, I aim for my work to highlight various cultures, and encourage personal reflection in our daily interactions of how we view and treat one another. I create with a purpose to cross examine cultural clash and unity, and provoke critical dialogue regarding race relations, and humanity as a whole. Through my artwork, I hope to create images that capture what drives people’s perceptions of themselves and of others.” -Ulen Laland, Class of 2018
